Cath Update

Sophia is out of the cath lab. She just left recovery and we are settling in to our room.
They didn't do any ballooning or stinting. The pseudoaneurysm was quite large (about the same size as her ventricle. There is substantial narrowing to the stitch lines on her pulmonary artery. The upper lobe of the right lung isn't getting blood from the pulmonary arteries as there does not seem to be a branch connection to this part of the lung.
So here is the abbreviated news. Sophia is going to require more surgery in the near future, probably in the next few weeks. The goal is to repair the pseudoaneurysm and possibly stent the arteries under direct vision in the O.R. We don't yet know how this will be accomplished the surgeon is meeting with her cardiologist and reviewing the film from the cath. I will post more when we know more.
For now, Sophia is out of recovery and resting comfortably in her hospital room.
Thanks for all your continued support.

Comments:
Oh Michael, I'm sorry it wasn't better news. The idea of surgery is always so overwhelming. We'll continue to pray for her and your family.

Glad Sophia is resting and I'm hoping for a quick recovery and for you guys to get to be back home real soon! Hospital rooms are such a hard place to rest. Will be praying for the dr./surgeons and the decisions they will be making. Take care of that precious little girl, hospitals are just no fun.

I am glad to hear that Sophia is doing well, but so sorry to hear that she will have to have another surgery so soon. I will continue to pray for her.

Blessings,
Krystal

My prayers are with baby Sophia, always.

I am so sorry to hear the results were not what you wanted or were expecting. I am praying for Sophia and I hope you get more information soon. Make sure to tell them that Sophia is looking forward to walking in the Heart Walk with Shawn, because I know Shawn is looking forward to it!

Glad to here she is doing well, sad to hear that you didn't receive the best possible news. We will wait anxiously for more updates and hope surgery and all other things go well. We keep on praying.
