Wisdom Heart

Sophia is out of the OR and doing better. The surgeon left her chest open, but doesn't anticipate it needing to be open very long. Hopefully, they will close it tomorrow (no promises). I will post later tonight or tomorrow a report on what the surgeon told us. But basically, it seemed we were on the home stretch around lunchtime. Sophia however decided to start bleeding. The surgeon spent many hours trying to isolate the bleeding. I do not think he ever found any particular spot it was coming from, but instead, it was likely coming from the many suture holes from the repair. It eventually slowed enough to get her off bypass. It got pretty terrifying for a while this afternoon, when they were not sure if they could isolate the bleeding. We are checking in to the PICU now. More later...
